So the christmas lights are up and shinning over the streets all over the world and I already have my first couple of presents! Yesterday I enjoyed a lovely morning walking
around El Retiro, a huge beautiful park right in the heart of Madrid. Such a
wonderful place to get lost in with your music, a good book or your own thoughts.
I felt like when I used to skip school to have a bit of time for myself and
to be honest I think these moments are really important, since we are always
running up and down, working, stressed and sometimes, simple things like a walk
help you slow down and realize what things are actually important.

El Retiro, un parque enorme y precioso en el corazón de Madrid. Un lugar genial
para perderse con música, un buen libro o las cosas que tenemos en la cabeza. Me
recordó a cuando solía pirar clase para tener un poco de tiempo para mi y la
verdad es que estos momentos me parecen muy importantes, siempre estamos
corriendo de un lado para otro, trabajando, estresados y a veces, algo tan
sencillo como un paseo te ayuda a frenar y darte cuenta de qué cosas son
realmente importantes

I would have loved being a bit older during the
90s to have been able to live that creative club culture, where club-kids and
skaters danced to house music and hip-hop. Flyers weren’t just info material
but real art pieces, and there were no rules wardrobe wise, it was only
forbidden to be discrete. Who wouldn’t swap for Macaulay Culkin after seeing
Party Monster? That was one of my inspirations when every Sunday evening in
London we were getting ready for Family, Boombox or Ponystep, parties that
recovered the club-kid essence from
the 90s. That’s why, with these customized Vans, I’m trying to do my own
personal homage to that time. I’m going to wear them till they fall off, I love
them!
Cuánto me hubiera gustado haber sido un poco
mayor en los 90 para haber vivido aquella creativa cultura de club, donde club-kids
y skeaters bailaban en comunión house y hip-hop. Los flyers no eran meros
panfletos informativos sino verdaderas obras de arte, y no había normas a la
hora de vestir mientras uno no pasara desapercibido. Quien no ha querido ser Macaulay Culkin despues de haber visto Party Monster? Yo levantaba la mano a esta pregunta
cada vez que llegaba el domingo en Londres y nos vestíamos para ir a Family,
Boombox o los comienzos de Ponystep, que recuperaban el espíritu club-kid de
los 90. Y bueno, con estos Vans customizados quiero hacer mi homenaje personal
a aquella época, me los voy a poner hasta reventarlos, me encantan!

Last Thursday took place the Marie Claire awards at the French Ambassador’s residence, in Madrid, and of course, I was well excited for two reasons: Daphne Guinness was coming (she confirmed to me via twitter), and I was finally going to wear the square-block look that David Delfín had made for me. I had been dressed for events many times before but this was the first time a recognised designer like David had actually designed something and make it especially for me. What am I going to say, you all know how much I like his stuff, it was such an honour, and we had an amazing time!
El jueves pasado tuvo lugar los Prix de la moda Marie Claire en la residencia del embajador de Francia, en Madrid, y yo me moria de ganas de ir por dos motivos: Daphne Guinness vendría (me confirmo su asistencia por twitter), y por fin estrenaría el conjunto que David Delfín había hecho para mi. He sido vestido para eventos muchas veces pero esta era la primera vez que un diseñador reconocido como David había diseñado algo expresamente para mi. Que os voy a decir yo, que sabéis cuanto me gusta lo que hace, fue un honor y nos lo pasamos en grande!

As promised, here we are partying hard. Last Thursday Gala, Miranda and Gerard were dj-ing at the Maguen11:11 party in Madrid so I knew I'd be down to some fun. Felt really lucky to be the first and only one in Spain wearing the Versace + H&M stuff before anyone else, got so many people asking me how did I managed! Como prometí, aquí estamos de fiesta. El pasado jueves Gala, Miranda y Gerard pinchaban en el fiesta de Maguen 11:11 en Madrid así que fuimos a pegarnos unos bailes. Me sentí muy afortunado de ser el primero y único en España en llevar la colección de Versace + H&M antes que nadie, algunos se me acercaban a preguntarme como lo había conseguido! Pues ahora vosotros chicos también podeis haceros con uno de los looks del desfile, entrad en mi página de facebook para descubrir como. De verdad os digo que esta colección es una fiesta en si misma, desde el llamado estampado Miami a la bisuteria, que ganas de que esté en tiendas para comprar más más y más!
Yummy lunch with the gorgeous Rumi(fashiontoast.com) and sweet Bryan (bryanboy.com) at Pastis on Wednesday. You can't really stay in a hotel at the Meatpacking District, and after spending you teenage years watching Sex and The City not go to Pastis, right? Now back in Madrid, a couple of nights ago went out ad finally wore my Versace + H&M newbies! Will post some pictures soon. By the way, in the next few days there I'll do an outfit give away from the collection on my official facebook page, I never do this so stay tunned!
El miércoles pasé una tarde genial, comiendo con la guapa Rumi (fashiontoast) y Bryanboy en Pastis. No puedes pretender quedarte en un hotel en pleno Meatpacking District, pasar tu adolesencia enganchado a la serie Sexo en Nueva York y luego no ir a Pastis! Ahora estoy de vuelta en Madrid, hace un par de noches salí de fiesta y pude estrenar mis nuevas adquisiciones de Versace + H&M, subiré fotos muy pronto! Y por cierto, sortearé un par de prendas de la colección en mi página oficial de facebookesta semana!
Those who like me were born on the late 80's and remember more or less nothing about the 90's are in luck because even though our blood carries the energy from that period sadly we do not remember much about it. And I say we are in luck because the brilliant Donatella has decided to finally open the archive that her brother Gianni made back then and bring it to the future not only for those who didn't have a chance to buy those wonders at that time or to the nostalgic who actually enjoyed that colorful Versace phase but also to those who still wouldn't have been able to afford it, bling bling included!
Im so happy I got to see the show that took place a couple of days ago in New York and such a surprise that Nicki Minaj and Prince where playing at the after party! It was definitely, a night to remember. The morning after the show, at the press conference, Donatella kept mentioning her enthusiasm in seeing the young people, the internet generation, wearing it our own way and how much her brother Gianni would have enjoyed this moment. Fashion is a dream , and no-one should take it away from us, concluded Donatella, divine, flicking her blond hair and gifting us with a wide smile. It couldn't all have happened in a better scenario, in New York City, where dreams come true. I only have one more thing to add: Beautiful iconic Versace pieces, welcome home!
Aquellos que nacimos en los últimos coletazos de los 80 y que poco recordamos de los 90 estamos de enhorabuena porque aunque llevemos en la sangre aquella energía de entonces pues no nos acordamos. Y digo que estamos de enhorabuena porque la gran Donatella ha decidido abrir los archivos que su hermano Gianni creó por aquel entonces y ponerlo a disposición no sólo de los que no tuvimos a oportunidad de comprar aquellas maravillas por aquel entonces o de los nostalgicos que disfrutaron de tan enérgica fase Versacesca sino también los que aún así no se lo hubieran podido permitir (matando tres pájaros de un tiro), con todo el dorado incluido!
Ha sido toda una experiencia este viaje relampago a Nueva York para disfrutar no solo de un desfile en toda regla gracias a H&M, sino de una fiesta posterior con actuación de Nicki Minaj y Prince incluida! Y para rematar, en la conferencia de prensa que se nos concedió al día siguiente Donatella hacía incapié una y otra vez en la gente jóven y en el mundo de internet, y en cuanto habría disfrutado su hermano Gianni de este momento. La moda es un sueño, y nadie debería de arrebatarnoslo, concluía ella, divina, al gesto de un movimiento de melena rubia y amplia sonrisa. Y es que no podría haber sido en ningun otro lugar, Nueva York, donde los sueños se hacen realidad. Benditas prendas iconicas de Versace, bienvenidas a casa.
